Well, it’s back. After sitting out the last few model years, the Jeep brand has returned with a new version of its Trailhawk trim on the Grand Cherokee. While the last model didn’t go far enough in providing the flagship with off-road chops, this version isn’t just competent—it achieves nigh Wrangler-levels of capability.
If you’ve driven the Wrangler on the trails, you’ll know that’s high praise. Unlike that model, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk can be had with any of the SUV’s three available engines, and each provides plenty of power for its off-road missions. With off-road rated suspension with an increased degree of travel, and class-leading approach and departure angles, there isn’t much that this SUV can’t tackle.
