For 75 years, Jeep® has inspired us to go farther and explore the world we live in. From humble beginnings, a proud American brand has grown to influence how we experience adventure. In honor of that heritage, we’re proud to present an occasional look at the icons that made Jeep® history.
The Willys-Overland Jeep® CJ-2A (1945-1949) was the very first Jeep® civilians could purchase. “Willys” was embossed on the windshield frame and the sides of the hood, and it came with many features that its military predecessors did not include: tailgate, larger headlights, side-mounted spare tire, vacuum-powered driver’s-side windshield wiper, external fuel cap and much, much more. And all for a MSRP of $1,090!
The CJ-2A became a standard-bearer, as several of the features in this Jeep®, such as the 134-cubic-inch I4 engine and T-90A transmission, would be found on future models.
